These are my courses for the current term:

Preaching and Worship

Communal worship is when God's people gather and praise Him and rehearse the gospel story that they are a part of. Preaching is one part of the whole worship. You can think of a preacher as a herald for God, a pastor, a storyteller / poet, or a witness bearer for the gospel (says Thomas G. Long). Here is a two minute sample of my homily that was delivered for the course. I will be delivering another 2 more sermons/homily for the class

on Psalms 126 and 1 Corinthians 10.

Pastoral Care - "Would you teach me to pray?"

"Teach us to care, and not to care" - Eugene Peterson

"Christians care and if they don't, they don't stay in business very long, or they don't stay credible very long" - Eugene Peterson

"Our caring becomes an extension of our prayer...God oriented, mystery-attentive, obedience-ready" - Eugene Peterson

"The primary act of the Christian in all this is to worship." - Eugene Peterson

"The most important thing going on right now is what God is doing." - Eugene Peterson

We are also learning tips from Carl Rogers about care, but you can probably tell that I much prefer Eugene Peterson's definitions.

Christian Thought and Culture II

Thus far we have talked about what modernism, evangelicalism, and romanticism actually are. I think it's important to trace what God is during through history, or we lose track of our own place in the story. And it's surely important to interact with ideas of our generation, but also be aware of the human tendency to replace God as the filler of the void with something else: self-sufficiency, art and feeling, science and reason, philosophy and intellect, material wealth, you name it.

Supervised Ministry (term 2)

My cohort-mates and I are meeting once in every two weeks to pray and talk about prayer. I have been serving at Granville Chapel for 5 months now. It has been a wonder to see what God is doing in His church amidst the pandemic. Thank God for good supervisors. My current regular tasks: prepare Bible Study content, lead a small group Bible study, visit other small groups, meet and journey with the young ladies from church, plan community events, attend staff meeting, maintain social media, lead corporate prayer, pray.
