On Mount Precipice was a lone olive tree, hanging on to its leaves in the high winds. If this was truly the spot from which Nazarenes tried to throw Jesus, they sure picked a good view for him. People are tiny in the vast, open landscape of the Jazreel Valley. You could see how close the desert is to ocean. Birds riding still in the hot desert wind. Purple thistles in the dry, brown thistles.

At night, we went for a walk to the sleepy version of Nazareth. In the quiet hours, the city's walls and doors were loud with signs and messages of grief and anger. I stop to greet the children, and was gifted with their smiles. Lord, let them hide and seek asylum in Your love.
